Psychotherapy is the process of, through therapeutic conversation, becoming aware of our hidden motives, feelings, thoughts, actions, and perceptions.
This awareness allows us to move out of learned patterns of response that have kept us stuck, creating limits to our productiveness, joy and inspiration. Healing occurs when we become conscious and choose to face those things we have feared and kept hidden; that have become a hindrance to a more rewarding life.
The focus of psychotherapy is self-actualization, in other words, an increase in contentment, power, freedom and happiness.
